Description

Step back into the 60s with this easy middle school art or high school art typography drawing lesson!

  • The step-by-step art handouts and the VIDEO TUTORIAL included in this lesson can be shown or sent online to students to create a groovy, 60's style-name design with a line optical illusion.
  • After a lesson about Color Contrast and 1960s Album cover and poster designs, use this creative lettering design to challenge your students to draw their names using this cool typography method!
  • Use this lesson as an easy fun first-week-of-art lesson to learn your students' names and to get students started using line and color!
  • OBJECTIVE: Students will demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of color contrast by applying contrasting colors to a design to make their images show up clearly, as well as learn a new way to draw letters!

My #1 Teaching Tip!

When I start my Color Unit, I begin with Color Contrast before we even learn about the Color Wheel, color mixing, or color schemes. Over the years, I have discovered that when a student's artwork just "isn't working" it usually comes down to fixing the color contrast. If colors don't contrast well in artwork, then no matter how neatly the artwork has been created, it won't be visually easy to understand. The image or design will just be unclear. Understanding these tricks gives the teacher and students tools to "fix" color issues and to communicate effectively about color as it relates to their art projects. This product teaches students 3 easy to remember 'tricks" to achieve color contrast that will be useful to them for EVERY art project they create in your class!

This art resource is jammed-packed with handouts, visuals, and examples that will make teaching Color Contrast easy for you and fun for your students!

This product includes:

-8 page, illustrated step-by-step lesson plan

-Exclusive Video tutorial link!

-Sketchbook activity to introduce and practice Color Contrast combinations with a
Accommodated differentiated worksheet
