Description

Fluency can effect comprehension. Increasing fluency can completely change how a child reads, and what they learn. How that is done is quite easy, and kids LOVE and doing it! Choose a book, and a start point, maybe the beginning of the book, page one. Have the child read OUTLOUD softly as fast as they can. You time them for one minute. At the end, they mark the last word they read. Then they go back to the start and read for one minute again. Mark where they end, it should be farther. Then do the same thing a third time, start at the same place, mark where you finish. Count the words, and chart it. Tomorrow do the same thing. As the days pass the kids can SEE how much they improve! They LOVE it, and it WORKS!
