Boost Your Students' Reading Fluency with "Fluency Fast Track"!

What is Fluency Fast Track?
A transformative resource designed to develop your students' reading fluency over time. Whether used in the classroom or as an intervention tool, this resource will help students enhance accuracy, expression, and confidence in their reading.

How It Works (Daily Routine):

  1. Model Fluent Reading (1 Minute):
The teacher reads the extract aloud while students follow along with their own copies. The goal? To model expression, intonation, and accurate pronunciation.
  2. Peer Reading & Feedback (1 Minute):
Students pair up—Child ‘A’ reads aloud, while Child ‘B’ listens and provides constructive feedback based on your demonstration.
  3. Switch Roles (2-3 Minutes):
Roles reverse, giving both children a chance to practise reading aloud and to listen actively.
  4. Summarise & Reflect (Optional):
If time allows, students write a 2-3 line summary of the text and share it with their partner.
  5. Supportive Feedback:
Partners circle or underline words that were challenging for their partner and revisit these during feedback. Focus on self-correction and supportive learning!

Flexible Usage Options:

✅ As a whole-class fluency routine
✅ As a targeted intervention program
✅ As an independent activity with comprehension questions
✅ Includes QR code audio versions of texts for additional support

Why Teachers Love It:

  • Dyslexia-Friendly Design: Font, size, and colours are carefully chosen to support every learner.
  • Supports Year 3 Reading Expectations: Helps students work towards the goal of reading 120 words per minute with accuracy, comprehension, and expression.
  • Builds Peer Collaboration: Promotes active listening and feedback skills.
  • Adaptable to Your Classroom Needs: Use it daily, as a standalone task, or part of intervention strategies.
