These Decodable Text Fluency Pyramids are a great way to practice reading with proper phrasing, intonation, and expression!

What are Fluency Pyramids? - Fluency Pyramids are an intervention tool used to increase students’ reading fluency. The pyramid begins with one word, and a subsequent word is added with each line of text. The text at the bottom of the pyramid contains the entire sentence. Students work on reading the text with proper phrasing, intonation, and expression.

Why should I choose these Fluency Pyramids? - The Fluency Pyramids included in this product contain primarily DECODABLE TEXT, or words that students can decode using the phonics skills that have been previously taught. Simply choose the Fluency Pyramids that best meet the instructional needs of your students.

Flexibility … This product contains two different versions of the same Fluency Pyramids … PRINTABLE and DIGITAL. You will have access to a PowerPoint version that can be displayed using a projector, or on an iPad, etc. You will also have access to a PDF version that can be printed.

How do I use Fluency Pyramids? - These Fluency Pyramids can be used with individual students, as well as during small-group and whole-group instruction. While I created these Fluency Pyramids to supplement the S.P.I.R.E. Intervention program, they can be used to SUPPLEMENT ANY READING PROGRAM.

Students read through the Fluency Pyramid line-by-line until completing the entire sentence at the bottom of the pyramid. Have students reread the bottom line of text a 2nd time, focusing on proper phrasing, intonation, and expression.
