Description

These 52 Engaging Math Task Cards enable students to transfer their math skills from the concrete to the abstract.

. . . . They are highly conceptual and contain 52 math questions in ALL!! (Multiple Choice, Multiple Select, Unknown Answer, Short Answer, Fill in the blank).

. . . . Enough questions and question types to provide purposeful differentiation for all levels of learning

Math Task Cards aligned to Common Core Math Standards:

4.NBT.4 - Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.

4.OA.3 - Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the four operations, including problems in which remainders must be interpreted. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Students will be challenged to make connections not only within the algorithm for addition or subtraction, but also to make connections between the two standard algorithms.
  2. Students will be able to look at a problem containing an error, find the error, fix the error, and explain the mathematical mistake that has been made.
  3. Students will represent problems with a mathematical drawing, diagram, and equations with a letter for the unknown number.
  4. Students will use mental computation and estimation strategies to present a reasonable solution, solve the problem, and then compare the original estimation and the actual answer.
  5. Students will be able to solve multi-step contextual problems posed with whole numbers using addition and subtraction.

My students enjoyed this resource, although some of the real life problems were a bit unrealistic (travelled 667, 004 miles across the U.S. in one trip). I would have enjoyed an answer key.

The task that discussed them traveling didn't mention where they began their journey. They had one stop in the U.S in order to reach Disney World. There are answer keys for teach task and student record forms as well. Please download again and let me know if you if you have any other questions. Thank you again for your support and feedback.

I used these during my stations. These helped review concepts that we had already learned. I like that there are so many because I was able to break them up and use a few at a time.
