Description
As an instructional autism special education teacher, I facilitate a parent support group at my school for parents raising children with special needs. The group is designed to support and encourage parents and caregivers through collaboration, education, and resources. We cover many different topics, one of which is helping parents to understand the complex Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process.
This power point presentation provides information and resources as it engages parents in learning about the IEP process and prepares them for their child's IEP meeting.
In an easy-to-understand format, this presentation addresses what to expect at the IEP meeting, how parental concerns should be considered, what service providers are involved in developing the IEP, IDEA and parental rights.
This presentation was specifically designed for parents but could also be used for a professional development to staff.
