What's Included:

  • Clear background content on bloodstain pattern analysis (BPA)
  • Step-by-step student-friendly lab procedure
  • Data tables for width, length, and angle calculations
  • Instructions for 3 origin estimation methods (graphing, trigonometry, triangulation)
  • Analysis questions promoting higher-order thinking
  • Meets NGSS and CCSS standards

Students Will Learn:

  • Trigonometric analysis using sine, tangent, and inverse sine functions
  • Measurement and data collection in forensic contexts
  • Spatial reasoning and evidence-based problem-solving
  • Real-world applications of math in criminal investigations
  • Bloodstain pattern analysis techniques used by professionals

Perfect For:

  • Forensic Science, Physics, and Biology courses

Thank you so much for the kind feedback! I’m really glad to hear that the blood spatter lab worked well in your forensic science class and that it was easy to implement. One of my goals when designing this activity was to create a lesson that allows students to apply real forensic analysis skills - such as determining angle of impact and interpreting bloodstain patterns - while keeping preparation simple for teachers.

It’s great to know that your students were engaged with the investigation. Activities like this are designed to help students see how math, observation, and scientific reasoning all come together in real forensic work.

I truly appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. Feedback like this helps other teachers understand how the resource works in the classroom. Thank you again for your support!
