Students will learn the impact of form and function alteration made to a plant and how the alterations will affect the overall growth of their plant. Students will make predictions and record their plant’s data for several weeks while their plant grows. Students will then compare their plant to the control plant to draw conclusions about the overall growth and health of the plant. Students will take their data and complete a line graph to show the different growing patterns of the control and their plant.
This engaging STEM activity allows students to explore agriculture within the classroom while making real-world connections to farming, its role in food production, and careers in the agriculture industry.
A variety of other resources to support this unit, including a Google Slides presentation, a Breakout Edu activity, and several videos, are available.
