These slides can be used to define formal and informal language, provide examples, and practice discriminating between the types. Finally, the students will have some fun as they look at tweets by well-known people/groups. They will answer questions of all levels of thinking: who/what is the source? Is this formal or informal in language / tone? How do you know? What if it wasn’t? What would it change?
