Description
This is a Common Core Standards-based supplemental geometry unit. This geometry unit is designed to stand alone and can be taught at any time during the year, and can be combined with any curriculum. It is full of geometry lessons, classifying and comparing/ contrasting polygon activities, and geometry games to help your students develop critical thinking skills while learning Common Core geometry content. Each activity is written so that it could stand alone, and many could be used either as whole class geometry lessons or geometry math centers. In addition, this unit could be used to challenge 3rd graders or support 5th graders. It contains 7 days of geometry lessons, activities, games, and assessments that will lead your students to mastery of Common Core geometry standards 4.G.1 and 4.G.2.

-important vs. unimportant geometric attributes
-sorting polygons by perpendicular sides
-sorting polygons by parallel sides
-naming and describing polygons based on geometric attributes
-comparing/contrasting polygons based on geometric attributes
-classifying triangles by side and angle attributes
