Description

These fraction games interactive version are an awesome addition to math learning centers for 4th-5th graders. Included are 20 different math games to play with dice for a variety of fraction skills. These games require no prep and are printer friendly making it easy to use while being fun and exciting for students. Simply print out different sets, slide into page protectors and leave as a math station all year long! Because students are rolling new problems each time, they are getting math practice without having to switch out new math stations every few days.

To play, students pair up and grab a game board. Then they roll the dice to create their own problems to solve. After they finish the problems, they will score themselves by comparing or adding their answers all together. The winner has the highest total or number of comparisons.

My students love this game as there is a bit of luck and strategy to it. More advanced students can find the best way to get the highest answer numbers so that at the end they end up with the highest score.

Topics included in these whole number math games:

  • add and subtract fractions
  • add and subtract mixed numbers
  • multiply fractions (also includes multiplying by whole numbers)
  • multiply mixed numbers
  • divide fractions & whole numbers
  • divide fractions

Due to the nature of this game, there is not an answer key. However, I will let students check their work with a calculator.

Add and subtract mixed numbers with like denominators, e.g., by replacing each mixed number with an equivalent fraction, and/or by using properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction.

Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. For example, 2/3 + 5/4 = 8/12 + 15/12 = 23/12. (In general, 𝘢/𝘣 + 𝘤/𝘥 = (𝘢𝘥 + 𝘣𝘤)/𝘣𝘥.)
