Description
Are you new to teaching fractions on a number line? I felt like this was a big switch in my instruction and I didn't have enough fraction number lines for my students to practice on. For many of my fourth graders, having them draw number lines was too time consuming and confusing to be worth it, so I made my own!
This set of four number line worksheets start out basic, and move into the more challenging. Students practice counting to determine the numerator of each number line (each worksheet contains halves, fourths, eights, thirds, sixths, and twelfths). You might choose to spread these sheets out over the course of 3 days, or use them all in one day to differentiate instruction among your learners.
This product contains:
✅ Two basic sheets (finding a mixed number)
✅ One sheet with finding improper fractions
✅ One challenge page that has equivalent fractions (for example, the number line says fourths, but students are asked to find eighths)
✅ Update: Teachers Pay Teachers has included a digital overlay. This means you can upload it directly to your Google Classroom from this site. Students can use Google's highlight tool to complete the activities on Google Classroom.
✅ Update #2: If you prefer to save it directly to your Google Drive, I've created a version for that too. This version is in landscape, which is a better experience on screens. The directions for digital use are editable on each Slide, so you can choose to have students use Google's highlighter tool or drag and resize the "ribbons."
