Description

In the Fraction Operations Solve and Snips, students will read a word problem involving fractions. Students will choose which of the four operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) to use to solve their problem. They will set up the work in the show work area and work through their problem. Once students have solved their problem, they will find the correct answer in the solutions bank and glue it in the answer column for the correct problem.

What is a Solve and Snip, you may be asking? A Solve and Snip is an interactive set of word problems, aligned to standards, that allow students to not only practice working with word problems but also work to solve problems with only a given set of answers provided. This allows self-checking and instant feedback on correct and incorrect answers.

Included in this Download:

  • Fraction Operations Solve and Snip- a set of ten word problems to practice understanding
  • Cut and Paste Answers- students will snip and paste their answers on their assignment to build kinesthetic learning
  • Fraction Operations Solve and Snip Answer Key

Solve and Snips are extremely versatile and you can use them in a multitude of ways!

Interactive work that allows students to work through the problems and self-check based on the answers provided.

  • Running low on copies? Make a group set of 4-6 and laminate! Use velcro on the back of the pieces and students can attach the pieces to match the problem.
  • Provide the Solve and Snip to your students but only give them half of the answers. Better yet, give half of your students one-half of the answers and the other half a different half of the answers.
  • Have your students work in a relay to solve the problems. Divide your class into four teams. The first team with all of their work shown will get 4 points, the second team will get 3 points, etc.
  • and more!

I always love cut and paste activities because it is similar to task cards and it quickly assesses a variety of skills and topics. It is often a great review tool to use before a test or quiz. My students enjoy it as well it is a self-checking activity and they feel good knowing they have the correct answer.
