Description
Students will use hands-on, manipulatives to discover the fraction a given geometric shape creates within an outline. Commercially made pattern blocks may be used. Color and B & W paper blocks are provided that can be used for cut and paste, or instead of commercial blocks. Seven outlines are provided. This can be used for instruction, assessment, or independent practice.

This was a great activity that my students enjoyed. I used it during our fractions unit, and students loved the hands-on aspect. If you've got a set of pattern blocks in your class I would recommend using those, but the paper blocks would work for any classroom without pattern blocks.
