Description

Levels 29 - 42 of the Fraction Problem Solving Kit address all types of tested fraction problems that relate to adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions, decimals, mixed numbers, and percents.

The various levels provide differentiated instruction opportunities for struggling learners and advanced students.

Texas TEKs 6.1B, 6.2D, 6.3E

Level 35: Multiply Fractions & Whole Numbers
(Two - Three Step Real World Word Problems)

• Multiplication key words: fraction of, not, remaining, and
* Add to find total, multiply, & subtract to find difference
* Multiplying fractions and whole numbers

Two-Sided Problems Solving Task Cards provide the independent practice and immediate feedback needed for students to develop mastery. Ideal math center materials. The entire collection of task cards make a highly effective self paced remediation program.

Contents include 18 two-sided problem solving Task cards.
(problem on one side / answer on the back) Recommend printing cards at each level on different colored card stock and laminating.

After having received a lesson specific to each level, students work problems and check their answers which are on the back of each card. If student learns an answer is not correct they can reference their Fraction Review Cards for a quick independent reteach. After a student has independently gotten 3 or 4 problems correct he/she can request testing out which should occur the next day / session. (testing out on the same day does not demonstrate mastery)

note: Cards can be printed without answers as needed

This kit has proven to be an effective tool when modifying lessons for remedial students providing mandated IEP modifications as it provides comprehensive and sequential remediation of skills, concepts, and problem solving applications.

Also available for purchase separately are:

* Modified fraction lessons with supporting homework. These
lessons are unique because they break problem solving down
into manageable chunks for struggling learners while teaching
them to apply problem solving skills. Additionally, each
worksheet comes with simplified notes attached that the
students can easily reference while working. There are two
worksheets specific to each level as well as mixed practice
worksheets. They are great for modified classwork and
homework.

* Multi-Level Fraction Review Notes / Flash Cards. With the
problem on the front and the answer with step by step problem
solving directions on the back of each card, students are able
to practice their problem solving skills independently.

Part 1 (Levels 1 - 14)
Part 2 (Levels 15 - 28)
Part 3 (Levels 29 - 42)

note: I have received great feedback from parents that felt these
cards provided them with an effective structured approach
to home study.

Levels 1 - 14 of the Fraction Problem Solving Kit address all types of tested fraction problems that relate to identifying, comparing, and reducing fractions.

Levels 15 - 28 of the Fraction Problem Solving Kit address all types of tested fraction problems that relate to converting, comparing, and ordering improper fractions, mixed numbers, decimals, and percent.

note: I have just begun uploading this series. I am giving
priority to specific requests I have received. If you are
interested in multiple levels, i recommend purchasing the
fraction review cards first.

Understand a fraction š˜¢/š˜£ as a multiple of 1/š˜£. For example, use a visual fraction model to represent 5/4 as the product 5 Ɨ (1/4), recording the conclusion by the equation 5/4 = 5 Ɨ (1/4).
Understand a multiple of š˜¢/š˜£ as a multiple of 1/š˜£, and use this understanding to multiply a fraction by a whole number. For example, use a visual fraction model to express 3 Ɨ (2/5) as 6 Ɨ (1/5), recognizing this product as 6/5. (In general, š˜Æ Ɨ (š˜¢/š˜£) = (š˜Æ Ɨ š˜¢)/š˜£.)
Solve word problems involving multiplication of a fraction by a whole number, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem. For example, if each person at a party will eat 3/8 of a pound of roast beef, and there will be 5 people at the party, how many pounds of roast beef will be needed? Between what two whole numbers does your answer lie?
