TWO Great Interactive Slideshows at a bargain bundled price!
WE LOVE FRACTIONS & FRACTIONS:PIECES OF THE WHOLE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WE LOVE FRACTIONS
Catchy guitar music helps to keep students engaged during this interactive PowerPoint show, which is designed to help students better understand the concept of fractions.
The concept of written forms of fractions are introduced using the idea of the line between the numerator and the denominator (actually called the vinculum) being used as an "out of" bar.
Students are guided through the process of supplying numerators and denominators for fraction models. Forty different fraction models are included in the presentation. Students supply a written fraction to complete a statement, such as, " _____ out of ______ pieces are purple.
A printable student Follow-Along response sheet is also included in the file.
Download the free preview file to see the clear process and clever animations that enhance learning.
A great feature of this activity (and of similar activities I have created) is that it is very sub-friendly. The activity is straight-forward and ready-to-go. It can be used several times with the same students as review practice.
This PowerPoint also works wonderfully in a computer lab setting as a partner activity. The Follow-Along response sheet works well for this purpose. Copyright permission is granted to use this file on multiple computers for one class of students.

FRACTIONS:PIECES OF THE WHOLE
This engaging interactive PowerPoint show is designed to help students better understand the concept of fractions.
Each fraction scenario prompts students to determine the denominator of a fraction model by counting the total parts. A portion of the model is then shaded, which prompts the students to identify the numerator. forty-one different fraction scenarios are included in the presentation.
Fractions are introduced using the idea of the line between the numerator and the denominator (actually called the vinculum) being used as "the out of bar". Even though the terms "numerator" and "denominator" aren't used, the meaning and function of those elements becomes crystal clear for students.
Catchy, engaging music is incorporated in the slideshow to keep students focused. A printable student Follow-Along response sheet is also included in the file.
Also included in the pack is a contact sheet that features all of the slides in the project, which allows the teacher to be a couple of steps ahead of the activity!
