Description

This is a slideshow to review fractions for 4th grade. I use this for a review before the NYSED Math State Test. This contains a review on vocabulary, equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, subtracting fractions with the same denominator, and multiplying fractions with the same denominator.

The problems on the last slide align with the purple Ready Book aligned to the Next Gen. standards, published in 2023. Feel free to use if you have the book or edit the last slide and out in whatever problems align with area and perimeter that you have!

This is a powerpoint file so can be used in powerpoint or be saved in Google Drive and opened in slides.

Explain why a fraction 𝘒/𝘣 is equivalent to a fraction (𝘯 Γ— 𝘒)/(𝘯 Γ— 𝘣) by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions.
Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators, e.g., by creating common denominators or numerators, or by comparing to a benchmark fraction such as 1/2. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
Understand a fraction 𝘒/𝘣 with 𝘒 > 1 as a sum of fractions 1/𝘣.
