Description

This resource includes two fun and engaging way students can practice their fraction skills! The Fractions Escape Room and the Fractions Project are both bakery themed and work very well together.

Fractions Project:

Students will need to:

  • order fractions
  • compare fractions
  • identify fractions
  • demonstrate equivalent fractions
  • compare fractions to the benchmarks of 0, 1/2, and 1

There are no mixed fractions in this resource.

Included in this resource:

Task One: Naming the bakery and choosing a location (creative task)

Task Two: Determining equivalent fractions (fractions task)

Task Three: Ordering fractions from greatest to least (fractions task)

Task Four: Creating a secret recipe (creative task)

Task Five: Identifying fractions (fractions task)

Task Six: Comparing fractions to benchmarks of 0, 1/2 and 1 (fractions task)

Task Seven: Identifying fractions (fractions task)

Task Eight: Identifying fractions (fractions task)

Task Nine: Comparing fractions (fractions task)

Task Ten: Comparing fractions (fractions task)

Task Eleven: Identifying fractions (fractions task)

Task Twelve: Creating a list of top sellers (creative task)

In the PDF there is a black and white version that can be printed for in class use. In the PDF there is also a Google slides link to share with students to use digitally. All 12 tasks will be on students slides but teachers may choose to assign specific tasks per day or may choose to assign the project for the entire week.

Fractions Escape Room:

Students will need to:

  • order fractions
  • compare fractions
  • identify fractions
  • demonstrate equivalent fractions
  • compare fractions to the benchmarks of 0, 1/2, and 1

Escape room intro:

It’s opening day of your bakery and you could not be more excited. You have worked so hard for this and the day is finally here! Your family has come to help you set everything up. As you approach the front door you get a funny feeling in your stomach, something doesn’t seem right. When you put your key in the lock it doesn’t open. Now what? You are supposed to be opening in one hour! Luckily you have a spare set of keys somewhere near the bakery. Use the 6 clues to help you find where the key is!

Instructions on how to use this resource are in the PDF provided. The Google Form can only be shared with your students!
