Description

Practice Free-Fall Calculations with this no-prep, self-checking, color-by-code vertical projectile activity. This physics resource contains 10 vertical projectile (free-fall) word problems using only algebra (no trigonometry) and a color-by-code dinosaur.

This physics color sheet  provides immediate feedback for your students and encourages the habit of fixing mistakes immediately. Physics Color By Number activities are a fun and engaging alternative to a traditional free-fall PDF worksheet.  This assignment makes a  great physics sub lesson plan, physics activity after a test, or physics homework.  I have included an answer key with my step-by-step work shown.

I have also included an optional half-sheet version of this physics coloring page if you would like to reduce the amount of time your students spend coloring.

This is created to be used while teaching free fall in High School Physics. Traditionally, free fall is taught during 1D Kinematics. However, I now teach free fall at the beginning of projectile motion AFTER Newton’s Laws to help shorten my 1D Kinematics unit. I have used this activity in both Conceptual Physics and Pre-AP Physics.

✩ HOW THIS ASSIGNMENT WORKS  ✩

  • Students solve each free-fall motion question.
  • They then find their answer in the bank and color accordingly.
  • If their answer isn't located in the bank, they find and correct their error.

✩ WHAT IS INCLUDED?  ✩

  • 10 Free Fall Motion Questions
  • Full Size Color Sheet
  • Half Size Color Sheet (to reduce time students spend coloring)
  • Answer key with my step-by-step work shown

✩ Easy Steps to Take AFTER Purchasing ✩

  1. Download the file.
  2. Print out one copy for each student
  3. Have fun talking about free fall motion!

✩ WHAT STUDENTS NEED TO KNOW BEFORE THEY BEGIN ✩

  • Free fall means only gravity (no air resistance) is acting on an object.
  • Acceleration due to gravity is -9.8 m/s/s.
  • How to calculate the velocity and distance of an object in free fall
