Description

Included in this set are 24 task cards that ask students to solve 1-step equations, a student answer sheet, and an answer key. These are all short answer task cards. One set of these task cards have QR codes on them. When scanned with a QR scanner (which can be downloaded onto smart phones, IPODS, IPADS, etc for free) students will see the correct answer. This allows students to check their own work.

There are 2 main ways I have used task cards in my classroom. One way is to have students pair up, the other is to have students work alone. When students work in pairs, I give each student in the group a card. Students then work together to solve each of the problems. After a certain amount of time (2-3minutes) each group passes their cards to the next group. When I have students work on task cards by themselves, I pass out the task cards, then set a timer so that every 2minutes students pass their cards. If you would like to incorporate movement into your class period rather than passing the cards, students can change seats every 2-3 minutes so that they have different cards in front of them to work on at different times.

I used this resource as a walk-around test review. I put the cards around the room, and students moved with a clipboard to solve them. It was excellent! Good variety of problems.

My students really liked this assignment. It was a good set of practice questions for students to get prepared for their test and continue to practice their understanding of how to solve equations.
