One of the most important parts of supporting our young writers is meeting with students to work on their writing goals and skill progression. Leaving sticky notes behind is a great reminder for your students about what they worked on. It would be best to keep a sticky note in their conferring notebook, folder, or whatever tool you use. You can then refer back to the personalized goals with your students. This allows writers to reflect on the writing and evaluate their work individually and within groups. I made these sticky notes, tailored to support the structure of the writing process as well as research-based encoding strategies and language objectives, to remind students of methods they can use when writing.
