Description
This survey can be given to students throughout the year to help them think about how they are relating to others. I use this check-in at least once per term. It not only helps direct students to think deeply about their friendships and to create a plan of action, but it also gives vital information about each child’s emotional state. I have used it during parent-teacher conferences when raising concerns or affirming observations. It has helped me to foster positive inter-peer relationships when creating seating plans, group compositions, and recess play-date suggestions. It’s easy to use and quick to complete!
Macro Mindset Teaching Tools: Introduction
About the author:
I have enjoyed a diverse career in education which has taken me around the world. I have taught in Guatemala, Hong Kong, and Canada. My core values as a teacher have been shaped by my personal experiences, international perspective, and IB training. Student agency, social emotional learning, and character education are usually on the top of my mind. These values are infused in the resources I create and I strive to always consider the macro level or big picture behind the way I structure my classroom and facilitate lessons.
About the store name:
The word macro comes from the Greek word ‘makros’ and means very large in scale, scope, or capability. I have named my store Macro Mindset Teaching Tools to remind ourselves, as teachers, to keep the big picture in mind when organising life and lessons in the classroom.
About the Macro Mindset Mantra:
Each resource I have posted includes a Macro Mindset Mantra. The mantra lists macro-concepts, a big idea, and student-centered “I” statements. These can be used to introduce and frame lessons. Keep the mantra in mind as you formatively assess your students and your understanding of each student as a whole will expand.
