Description

Friend Files is a great way to facilitate conversational skills. Often students with Autism or other social language deficits have difficulty holding conversations and interacting with peers. The 'File' acronym gives concrete topics to talk about:

F - Friends/Family
I - Interests
L - Likes/Dislikes
E- Experiences

This kit includes a cover page, a friend file overview, and 5 interview worksheets. Each of the 5 interview worksheets has 2 levels: a multiple choice option and a fill in the blank option. There is also 1 interview sheet where the student comes up with his/her own question in each category.

I make one file folder for each student and glue the cover page on the front. I glue the Friend File Overview to the inside cover of the folder. Each time the student complete a "Friend Interview", they put the completed worksheet in their friend file.

Perfect toolkit for Friend Files! I give this to teachers to use classwide to support all students and those with pragmatic difficulties.

This was super helpful during social groups. My client had something to follow along and didn't feel put "on the spot" when learning about his new friend. It was also really nice that i was able to adapt it to what exactly we needed and I liked that there were different levels. Thank you for a great resource!!

Nice variations. Would be nice to have an editable form to add ideas to learn more about students.
