Description

This fun friendship unit is used on my second week of guided reading instruction. The theme for the week is FRIENDSHIP AND BUILDING CHARACTER and the focus reading strategies is RETELLING the beginning, middle, and end. Each day a different story will focus on retelling activities. The featured stories for this week are Peanut Butter & Cupcake, Chester's Way, Nugget & Fang, Do Unto Otters, and The Invisible Boy. Each day a different story is read and will focus on character and setting activities. This unit includes daily lesson plans, posters, parent connect letter, an original strategy song, vocabulary, comprehension strategies, literacy connections, extension activities, sort activities, and crafts.

This resource is aligned perfectly with our standards. The stories are so engaging and the activities align perfectly. My first graders loved the crafts that accompany each story. They really were able to grasp each concept and I refer back to these stories all year! They all have great messages about friendship that first graders need to think on!
