Description

This graph designed by Lou Ann Daniels can be used with Froot Loops cereal or a generic brand. Put fruit loops in baggies for students to graph. Students can create a picture graph or horizontal bar graph depending on what the focus is. Students write the colors along the left side and continue the numbering on the bottom; placing the numbers directly below the lines. The use of a document camera to guide students is helpful. This was designed so that students could begin to learn how to create their own graph with support. The adding page is done with information from their graph but the actual pieces of cereal can be used for students who still need the manipulatives. Students in need of a challenge could add 3 or more colors on the back. This graphing activity aligns with the following common core standards: M.K.OA.1, M.K.CC.5, M.K.CC.6, M.K.MD.3, M.1.OA.1, M.1.MD.4, M.2.OA.1, M.2.OA.2
