Looking for fun Fall math activities that will challenge and engage your students? This Pack Includes 24 Can You Make It? Fall Math Challenges. These challenges are a great way to get children thinking about math concepts and using a variety of math skills. They love the challenge of making the equation or being the first to make an equation. Great way to celebrate Fall in math.

WHAT IS A 'CAN YOU MAKE IT?' MATH CHALLENGE

For each challenge, students are given a number and 5 or 6 single digits.

Then they get to work and try to create equations that will equal the number using only the digits provided. The equations can be simple or quite complex.

With this bundle you will have fun math challenges for the whole year! The bundle includes Can You Make It? Math Challenges for 13 special days and seasons and the non seasonal Animals set. Includes Back to School, Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Winter, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Spring, Earth Day, Easter, Summer/End of Year and the Animals set for use all year!

DIFFERENITATED

The challenges are graded from Very Easy to Extremely Challenging. Providing the opportunity to challenge students of different abilities. Instructions are also differentiated. These activities are ideal for all students but they also make a great extension activity for Gifted and Talented students who can be encouraged to create more complex equations and they can be given the more advanced challenges.

INSTRUCTIONS

There are 3 different options for the instructions provided.

  • Basic – these suggest using +, -, x, ÷ to create the equation.
  • Moderate – these suggest using +, -, x, ÷ and fractions to create the equation
  • Advanced – these suggest using +, -, x, ÷, fractions, decimals and parentheses or brackets.

2 DIFFERENT FORMATS

These challenges come in 2 different versions.

Poster Format

For printing, interactive whiteboards or assigning in Google Classroom or with a link using Easel. These can be printed and displayed as is or enlarged on a copier. They can also be projected onto an interactive whiteboard or assigned to students through TpT Easel.

Worksheet Format

Each printable worksheet has 4 different challenges. Print or assign in Google Classroom or with a link using Easel. All 24 of the challenges from the posters are included on 6 different worksheets.

PRINTABLE and DIGITAL

Both the Poster Format and the Worksheet Format are provided as printable and digital activities,

TPT EASEL ACTIVITY

  • You can access the Easel version via your purchases page or via the product listing page.
  • This will give you access to preview, edit and assign the digital version.
  • Easel Activities can be assigned to students via Google Classroom or a link.
  • Both the poster format and the worksheet format can be used as a TpT Easel Activity.

These Fall math activities are a great way to challenge and extend students as they attempt to create mathematical equations with a limited number of digits.

Children love the challenge of trying to be the first one to make an equation or trying to be the one who makes the most complex equation or makes the most equations.

These activities are suggested for second, third, fourth and fifth grade but may also be suitable for other grades. Please see the Preview to see if these are suitable for your students.
