In my room, at each center I have a must do and a can do while I work with small groups in reading and phonics.

What are “must do” activities? “Must do” activities are assignments that must be done by the end of the center. Students will complete a task and follow it up with a recording sheet of some kind to teachers can monitor the work being complete by the student.

What are “can do” activities:
“Can do” activities are open-ended, engaging, hands-on games. Students follow a “must do” activity with a “can do”. These are great for a fast finisher or for after a short “must do” activity.

What are “small group” activities:
Use the activities in a small group setting by either a teacher or parent volunteer.
