Description
It's function time!
One of my favorite ways to introduce function transformations to my students is to give them this foldable, have them log into their Chrome books, and start exploring on the Desmos online graphing calculator. By the end of this foldable, students end up with a pretty good idea of how functions are moved horizontally and vertically, what makes a function flip upside down on the graph, and how to change the sizes of functions.
This was designed specifically for my Algebra 1 class (Common Core standard HSF-BF.B.3) but I also use this with my 8th graders as an extension activity when we start talking about the basics of functions. The 8th graders love discovering these "advanced" concepts. :)
