Engaging and Effective Task Cards for Practicing Function Notation!

I used these function notation task cards with my Algebra 1 students as a review and practice activity, and they worked extremely well. The cards provided a great mix of evaluating functions, identifying inputs and outputs, and interpreting function notation from different representations. Students were actively engaged and able to apply what they learned without feeling overwhelmed. I especially appreciated how versatile this resource is. I was able to use the cards for station rotations, small-group instruction, and independent practice. The task-card format encouraged movement and discussion, which helped keep students focused and motivated. The problems were well-sequenced and reinforced common skills students struggle with, such as understanding what f(x) represents and correctly substituting values. The answer key made it easy to check work quickly and address misconceptions during class. Overall, this resource provided meaningful practice, supported student confidence, and saved me valuable prep time. Highly recommend for any Algebra 1 teacher looking for an engaging way to reinforce function notation!

These questions were great for extra practice. Some of the students had a hard time following along with the order of the questions but it still worked well.
