Description

This Functions & Linear Equations Assessment was designed to measure true math understanding—not reading ability. With clear, concise questions and minimal text, this test allows students to demonstrate their knowledge of functions and linear equations without unnecessary reading barriers.

The assessment includes 20 skill-based questions plus 1 optional word problem, giving you flexibility to adjust rigor or time based on your students’ needs.

Built-in differentiation makes this test especially classroom-friendly: students can complete even or odd problems and still be assessed on all targeted skills.

Two versions are included, making it easy to:

  • Test multiple classes at the same time
  • Reduce cheating
  • Provide make-up tests or retakes

Answer keys are provided for quick and easy grading.

Skills Assessed:

  • Identifying and interpreting functions
  • Evaluating functions
  • Linear equations
  • Slope and y-intercept
  • Direct variation
  • Domain and range

Why Teachers Love This Assessment:

  • Low-reading, high-math focus
  • Easy to differentiate using evens/odds
  • Two versions for flexibility and test security
  • Perfect for unit tests, retakes, or benchmarks
  • Great for IEPs, 504s, and diverse learners

Graph proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the slope of the graph. Compare two different proportional relationships represented in different ways. For example, compare a distance-time graph to a distance-time equation to determine which of two moving objects has greater speed.
Use similar triangles to explain why the slope m is the same between any two distinct points on a non-vertical line in the coordinate plane; derive the equation 𝘺 = 𝘮𝘹 for a line through the origin and the equation 𝘺 = 𝘮𝘹 + 𝘣 for a line intercepting the vertical axis at 𝘣.
Understand that a function is a rule that assigns to each input exactly one output. The graph of a function is the set of ordered pairs consisting of an input and the corresponding output.
