Description
This bundle contains 5 resources for a unit on Functions. These were created specifically for Algebra 2 but could be used in other math classes as well. Resources include:
- A collection of 13 daily warm-up/bellringer questions to prompt student thinking and discussion.
- A "hook" (introductory) activity to get students thinking about relations and functions in real-world settings. Students choose between 3 different scenarios and are guided through questions that ask them to describe the relationship between the variables in a variety of ways.
- Guided notes with practice problems that cover the following topics: definition of a function, domain and range, one-to-one functions, inverse functions, even and odd functions, and function operations including composition.
- Three different application projects involving functions. Students can choose to apply their understanding of functions to the agriculture setting, the field of exercise science, or the business world.
- Two versions of a Concept Quiz (summative assessment). These quizzes assess students' understanding of functions and cover all of the topics included in the notes. Each Concept Quiz is 2 pages in length. Version 2 is slightly more complicated than Version 1 to allow for differentiation.

CCSS8.F.A.1
Understand that a function is a rule that assigns to each input exactly one output. The graph of a function is the set of ordered pairs consisting of an input and the corresponding output.
CCSS8.F.A.2
Compare properties of two functions each represented in a different way (algebraically, graphically, numerically in tables, or by verbal descriptions). For example, given a linear function represented by a table of values and a linear function represented by an algebraic expression, determine which function has the greater rate of change.
CCSS8.F.B.4
Construct a function to model a linear relationship between two quantities. Determine the rate of change and initial value of the function from a description of a relationship or from two (๐น, ๐บ) values, including reading these from a table or from a graph. Interpret the rate of change and initial value of a linear function in terms of the situation it models, and in terms of its graph or a table of values.
