When creating resources, I remember one moment… I looked up from the blue kidney-shaped table where a small group of students were discussing "Because of Winn-Dixie." To my right, a little guy was measuring his mealworm to record daily data. Groups of students were selecting books for the Amazing Reading Race I had created that year. Two usually mischievous boys were earnestly practicing their weekly book presentation. Two shy girls were curled up on comfy pillows sharing a book. I leaned back in my chair, smiled, and breathed in the moment… the buzz… the hum... the joy…
A moment of teaching success… students fully engaged with interesting and meaningful activities, and the classroom an active and warm learning space. That is what I think about when I create learning resources. What would teachers need to experience moments like these?
