Description

Need a ready-made lesson and activities to teach your students about customary capacity of gallons, quarts, pints, and cups for your math liquid measurement unit? This resource includes 34 slides and a Color Sort worksheet that will teach your students all about liquid measurement of gallons, quarts, pints, and cups!

This product is includes PDFs, but also includes a link to make a copy of a google slide presentation to use for your mini lesson.

Included in the lesson is:

  • 10 Slides that define capacity, gallons, quarts, pints, and cups (and a brief introduction to conversion of these units)
  • 6 Slides that have real life examples of items with approximate measurements in cups, pints, quarts, and gallons.
  • 4 Slides that have a partner sharing where students apply their new knowledge of approximate measurement of gallons, quarts, pints, and cups
  • 10 Slides with a multiple choice white board/notebook activity where students can describe which approximate standard liquid measurement best matches the item
  • A slide with extension activities

This resource also includes a gallon, quart, pint, and cups color sort where students will color items that would best measured in gallons in red (think swimming pools or bathtubs), quarts in blue (large flower vases or orange juice bottles), pints in green (salad dressing bottles or syrup bottles), and cups yellow (juice box or coffee mugs). Student who need pictures to support their reading will find this resource perfect! An additional resource of a sort without picture supports is also included (for differentiated support!)

With this product your whole math block will be planned, and you will have a standards based grade with the worksheet that is included!
