This activity is great practice for helping students write their own word problems. There are 2 formats to use.
Word Problems Work Mat
- 11 backgrounds students can use to write their own words problems
- Students use the background as a prompt to generate their own word problem. These can be used with any level of math. They are easy to differentiate with whatever level your students are on.
Task Cards
- The task cards include addition and subtraction number sentences. There are options for one-step and multi-step problems.
- Students generate word problems that align with the number sentence on the card. They can trade with a partner and solve each other's word problems.
