Description

Behold! A comprehensive genetic inheritance activity with stations dedicated to the 6 classic modes of trait inheritance: Complete dominance, incomplete dominance, co-dominance, polygenic inheritance, multiple alleles, and sex-linked traits. All stations are represented with 6 task cards each, varying in type and difficulty of questions. This is a perfect review module for biology classes before a quiz or test on Medelian Genetics. They will get exposure to multiple Punnett squares, definition and interpretation questions, and theory-related questions to solve at each station.

Included in this bundle are:

- Basic instruction on how to run the lab

- Set of 6 cards per station (double sided)

- 6 station name tags

- Answer sheet for students to record their work

- Answer key

This lab has been vetted by my own students and all the stumbling blocks have been properly flushed out. This lab took about 2 days (roughly 2 hours) for most students to finish. It was well worth the time to have them walk through each card on their own. They found the practice and example problems helped them better grasp the concepts of each inheritance pattern. This activity follows the NGSS HS-LS3 standards.

I hope your students enjoy it as much as mine. Thanks for your support!

Standards

NGSSHS-LS3-3
Apply concepts of statistics and probability to explain the variation and distribution of expressed traits in a population. Emphasis is on the use of mathematics to describe the probability of traits as it relates to genetic and environmental factors in the expression of traits. Assessment does not include Hardy-Weinberg calculations.
NGSSHS-LS3-1
Ask questions to clarify relationships about the role of DNA and chromosomes in coding the instructions for characteristic traits passed from parents to offspring. Assessment does not include the phases of meiosis or the biochemical mechanism of specific steps in the process.
