Description
This lesson teaches students about the geometric rigid motion transformation of translations. This resource may be used in the classroom or for distance learning as students can check their answers as they learn. Guided notes with answer answer key pages are include in this google slides activity.
Learning Targets:
•Translate a preimage onto its image given a vector
•Find the vector given a preimage and image.
•Use function notation to describe a translation.
Materials: device with internet, google account, straightedge, compass, paper
In this lesson, students will be introduced to 2 different ways to complete a translation:
•Translate using a compass and straightedge
•Geometry Software
Next students learn about finding the vector of a translation when given a preimage and its image.
Finally, students learn how to describe a translation using function notation.
NOTES:
•If you would not like your students to have the answers to grade as they go, simply delete those slides before sharing the file with your students.
•Note: Lesson format is compatible with Google slides®
•You will be provided with a link to make a copy of the google slides lesson. A device to use the internet is required to complete this lesson.
•Answer keys included
•Pages: 45 slides + 13 pages investigation, 4 teacher note pages
•Duration: 90 minutes
