Description

I created this lesson for my Formal Observation.
It hits on MACC1.G.1.1.--Identifying Attributes of shapes
In this lesson your students will meet Miss Poly Gon.
She runs the Shape Zoo and all of her shapes have gotten out of their homes/habitats. You will teach your students the names of these shapes, the # of sides and #of vertices.
Students will work in teams to sort shapes into their homes/habitats.
Students will complete a shape Field Journal using pattern blocks to show independently what they have learned.
At the end of the lesson , students will conduct a shape walk to see if they can identify similar shapes in the "real World"
You will need to make your own chart for sorting the shapes, construction paper shapes for students to sort and your own Miss Poly Gon out of construction paper.
I really hope you like this lesson. I have more to this unit wih Common Core geometr and Miss Poly Gon lessons here Common Core Geometry Unit Starring Miss Poly Gon
Please leave me feedback and let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Jessica Berggren
