Description

Need quality 7th Grade Math guided notes for your interactive notebooks (INB) that don't waste paper? These notes for the Geometry and Measurement (7.G) strand use all parts of the page with guided notes, guided practice, and independent practice as you introduce your students to these basic number skills. Students cut the guided notes section off for note-taking and then use the leftovers for guided practice, visual cues, and independent practice. No more wasting space on a page or scraps of paper! There is also a full-page guided notes option for binders!

Desired Learner Outcomes from this unit:

  • I understand the classifications of angles and triangles and can write and solve equations to find missing values related to them.
  • I can identify the relationships between basic angle pairs and can solve problems using the relationships.
  • I can sketch, draw, and construct triangles with given conditions.
  • I understand how 2D polygons relate to 3D figures as nets and cross-sections.
  • I can find area, perimeter, and circumference of two-dimensional figures and can apply that understanding to solve real-world problems.
  • I understand how 2D polygons relate to 3D figures as nets and can use that understanding to find surface area of 3D figures.
  • I can derive the volume formula of prisms and cylinders and can use it to solve real-world problems involving volume.

Draw (freehand, with ruler and protractor, and with technology) geometric shapes with given conditions. Focus on constructing triangles from three measures of angles or sides, noticing when the conditions determine a unique triangle, more than one triangle, or no triangle.
Describe the two-dimensional figures that result from slicing three-dimensional figures, as in plane sections of right rectangular prisms and right rectangular pyramids.
Know the formulas for the area and circumference of a circle and use them to solve problems; give an informal derivation of the relationship between the circumference and area of a circle.
