Description

Quiz Quiz Trade is an active engagement structure designed by Dr. Spencer Kagan. His structures allow all students to have access to the learning target and allows students to review information by asking and answering questions from peers.

This activity includes one decks of 36 Quiz Quiz Trade cards including the following skills:

-Using geometry and fraction vocabulary

-Identifying polygons given pictures of the polygons (triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and octagons)

-Identifying polygons using given attributes (number of sides and angles)

-Identifying Equal and Unequal Parts

-Identifying shapes partitioned into halves, thirds, and fourths.

For the teacher:

Print the following pages for your students. I suggest using colored cardstock paper. Cut each paper horizontally to create 2 cards per page. Then, fold the papers vertically so the question is on one side and the answer is on the other. The cards are ready for use. Enjoy watching students have fun while learning!

**These cards are numbered so they can be used as task cards or a scoot as well!

How to begin:

After you have printed the cards double sided, pass one card out to each student. Once the student has a card, allow students to “mingle” around the classroom. Students should then find the student closest to them to become their first partner. Students are not allowed to pass up a classmate just to be with their best friend.

Partner A holds up the flashcard with the question side facing Partner B. Parner B answers the questions and Partner A will praise their partner if they are correct or coach Partner B if they are unsure of the answer. As a class, we always review what coaching should look like, we never tell the answer, we are there to guide our friends! Once Partner B answers, they switch roles. Now Partner A must answer the question from Partner B.

After each partner has correctly answered the question, they thank one another for being a great partner and SWITCH cards. Once they have switched cards, they raise their hand and look for another partner. The raised hand signals to other students they are ready to be their new partner.

*Repeat this process for the time you have allotted for the activity.

I got voluntold that I would have to complete a Kagan coaching session by my principal. She has started doing a structure a month where she goes around and observes teachers doing a certain structure. I used this for my coaching session and passed with flying colors! Loved it!

Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.
