Description

Students will need to have covered the following topics in order to do this project: Pythagorean Theorem, trigonometry, angle of elevation, and construction of right angles.

This project takes your students on a journey to the Pyramid of Giza where they are challenged with the choice of walking up to the peak of the pyramid between two routes. They must determine the distance and angle of the two paths and build a scale model of the pyramid's paths. Ideal materials for the building of the scale model are kabob skewers, hot glue guns, hot glue sticks, and wire cutters. The building of a scale model is not necessary for this project, but it provides a nice visual for the students and let's them practice constructing right angles for the base of the pyramid.
