Description

This study guide is the perfect companion for students as begin their Geometry units. In my experience, I had the students fill out the study guide as we learned about each concept. This gave them a visual reference with descriptive notes to refer to during homework and classwork. By the end of the unit they were fluently using the academic vocabulary when discussing their work in math. I hope it helps you like it helped me!

For younger students it could be used to guide through the unit, for older it could serve as a refresher before accessing more difficult content throughout the unit.

The zip file includes the following:

Lined filled version (contains descriptions of each concept)

A lined blank version

Unlined filled version

Unlined blank version

The line versions have folding lines between each section indicating where students should fold the brochure (it's not perfect but it is helpful). The unlined version does not those folding lines.

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Understand that shapes in different categories (e.g., rhombuses, rectangles, and others) may share attributes (e.g., having four sides), and that the shared attributes can define a larger category (e.g., quadrilaterals). Recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals, and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.
Draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (right, acute, obtuse), and perpendicular and parallel lines. Identify these in two-dimensional figures.
Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize right triangles as a category, and identify right triangles.
