Description
This is a pack of worksheets and activities designed to help teach the geometry common core standards for first-grade. There are worksheets and activities for every first grade geometry common core standard.
Worksheets Included:
*Defining Attributes - Students determine which attributes of a shape are defining attributes and which ones are not.
*Different Shapes - After understanding which attributes are defining, students use this knowledge to draw shapes that are different from the example.
*Shapes Different Ways - After understanding which attributes are defining, students use this knowledge to draw shapes that are the same shape, but different in some way, from the example.
*Combining 3d Shapes - Students determine the solid shapes that are used to make real life objects.
*Compose 2d Shapes (2 Activities) - Students use 2d shapes to compose different shapes.
*Compose 3d Shapes - Students determine the 3d shapes that were used to create other 3d shapes.
*Color the Fractions - Students shade the shapes to show halves and fourths.
*Fractions Different Ways - Students divide the shapes into fractions in different ways.
*Sort the Fractions - Students sort the shapes to tell if the fractions are showing halves or quarters.
Each worksheet contains the Common Core Standard it addresses clearly printed at the top of the page. I have found this incredibly useful in helping parents to understand the concepts being taught. (Several worksheets address more than one standard, but only the one targeted standard is identified.) Clear directions are printed at the bottom of each page.

CCSS1.G.A.1
Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size); build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.
CCSS1.G.A.2
Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape.
CCSS1.G.A.3
Partition circles and rectangles into two and four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, fourths, and quarters, and use the phrases half of, fourth of, and quarter of. Describe the whole as two of, or four of the shares. Understand for these examples that decomposing into more equal shares creates smaller shares.
