First Grade Common Core Math Units

*************************************************************

Intro to Numbers and Operations in Base Ten for First Grade

Intro to Operations and Algebraic Thinking for First Grade

Intro to Measurement and Data for First Grade

*************************************************************

This interactive presentation covers all the standards for first grade Common Core Geometry mathematics. The compressed folder contains the presentation in PowerPoint and also works in Google Slides. In addition, the same presentation is included in the same compressed folder in the SmartBoard Notebook format. The lessons can be used to introduce the concept, reinforce the concept, or review the concept. It would also be excellent when you are being observed to display the fact that you are working on implementing the Common Core mathematics standards. Second grade teachers could use the presentation as a review at the beginning of the year. This product works best if the teacher computer is connected to a projector, or the teacher has access to a room with a computer connected to a projector. Multiple examples are used for each standard.

If you look at the preview, you will get a very clear idea as to what you would be purchasing.

Common Core Standards for First Grade

Geometry

• CC.1.G.A.1 Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size); build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.

• CC.1.G.A.2 Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape.

• CC.1.G.A.3 Partition circles and rectangles into two and four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, fourths, and quarters, and use the phrases half of, fourth of, and quarter of. Describe the whole as two of, or four of the shares. Understand for these examples that decomposing into more equal shares creates smaller shares.
