Get your math facts in gear this year!
A little more fun than traditional math flashcards...
Once students have learned the basic concepts of addition and subtraction, they can begin to practice memorizing the basic facts for fluency.
This “Get your Year in Gear—Math Edition” features 20 math fact practice robots for addition problems +0, +1, +2, +3, +4, +5, +6, +7, +8, and +9, with sums to 18; and subtraction problems -0, -1, -2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -7, -8, -9, with 18 as the highest minuend. Students record the correct answer to each addition and subtraction fact on their robot, they then fold the flap to cover the answers and practice memorizing each basic fact.
You can decide how you wish to use the quizzes/practice sheets, 20 sheets are included. They could be administered to the entire class, or for more differentiation, in your math small group time. I also use them to progress monitor students for RtI.
As students master each robot, you can instruct them to color the corresponding gear on their self-monitoring sheet. (I keep the self-monitoring sheets in a folder and give them to students as I assess them. You can decide how you would like to use them in your class.)
