• the shape of lenses and magnification
• 2X magnification
• magnification with compound microscopes using hand lenses
• observations and magnification of crystals using hand lenses and microscopes
• mixing and separating liquids using hand lenses and microscopes
• analyzing fingerprints using hand lenses and microscopes
• measuring temperatures using thermometers
These experiments are perfect to use at the beginning of the year to introduce students to scientific tools. They can also be used as independent labs. The directions are in “kid friendly” language so students can complete them independently, or with a partner. Large student pages, smaller student journal pages and teacher notes are included. Simply print the desired size of page, gather the materials and let the learning and fun begin!
