Description

This is a great project to give students practice drawing linear equations. Students are required to convert 30 equations into slope-intercept form (y = mx + b). Then students graph these equations on giant graph paper and color them using a pattern of colors. It is a fun, engaging way to practice graphing lines.

Use similar triangles to explain why the slope m is the same between any two distinct points on a non-vertical line in the coordinate plane; derive the equation 𝘺 = 𝘮𝘹 for a line through the origin and the equation 𝘺 = 𝘮𝘹 + 𝘣 for a line intercepting the vertical axis at 𝘣.
Create equations in two or more variables to represent relationships between quantities; graph equations on coordinate axes with labels and scales.
