Description

Michaela Lawrence from Especially Education and I are thrilled to bring you a FREE mini unit to give you a glance at our Made For Me Literacy curriculum.

Having both taught in self-contained special education classrooms, Michaela and I have experienced the difficulties and frustrations of finding appropriate resources to meet the needs of our students.

The mission behind Made For Me Literacy is to provide teachers with engaging, comprehensive reading units that were designed with special learners in mind. These monthly-themed units span various subject areas, including basic reading, writing, math, science, and fine motor skills.

Differentiation is often a time consuming and tedious process. But not anymore! Many activities included in the Made For Me Literacy curriculum provide two or three levels of difficulty. Meeting the needs of all your students is easy with the differentiation already done for you.

Included in this FREE mini unit:

Task Boxes

Increase independence and enhance basic math and literacy skills. This mini freebie unit contains 1 math and 1 ELA task box, each with two levels of difficulty.

File Folder Activities

-Hands on fun! These give students even more practice with basic math and literacy skills worked on in each unit. This mini freebie unit contains 1 math file folder with two levels of difficulty and 2 literacy file folders with two levels of difficulty.

Cut and Paste Activities

These differentiated cut-and-paste activities are a great way to assess student knowledge, promote independence, and practice fine motor scissor skills.

Easy Art Activity and Anchor Chart

The art activity includes easy print pages so you can print pieces directly on construction paper (so students can cut the shapes out), and step by step real picture directions for students to follow independently or as a whole group activity.

Story Time Comprehension Activities

For this mini unit, we included resources for one fiction book, including:

-Story map pictures (author, illustrator, character, setting, title, sequence)

-Adapted book pieces for generalization with picture vocabulary throughout the story with non-examples included to use as incorrect answer choices

-10 Wh- questions with visual answer choices (printable or interactive on any device) with field of 2 and field of 3 answer choices

-10 yes/no questions

*Also included are schedule cards to display during story time and free story map to assemble

Visual Recipes

Cooking is a fun, hands-on way to incorporate many academic and life skills! For this freebie, we have the visual directions to make a rocket snack. Easy-to-complete student reflection sheets and various parent permission slips are also included!

My students enjoyed the activities though I would have liked for the ABC order file folder to have had arrows to let kids know which way to continue their ordering of letters.
