Description
No matter what grade I taught, my students LOVED making glyphs. This simple "print and go" activity is perfect for that energized week before winter break!
Glyphs are a quick, easy and fun way to practice listening and following directions.
They also provide a "hard copy" to use as proof that a child does or doesn't.
Since "listening & following directions" is one of my report card standards, I started designing glyphs so that I would have a "paper trail". Since my students really enjoy doing them, it's a win-win for sure.
Teacher Comment:
"Nice addition to my gingerbread unit. Great work on following directions, listening and a cute outcome to boot. Thank you. Will use again and again."
Completed projects make an adorable bulletin board, as each one will be different.
I've included a poster to add extra pizzazz.
Teacher Comment:
"My kids loved how every gingerbread man turned out different, and they were a huge hit hanging in the hallway."
To practice data collection & analysis, as well as process of elimination, have students try and figure out who made some of the gingerbread glyphs.
As a math extension, I've included a gingerbread graphing extension.
I'm Diane from Teach With Me, wishing you a delightful December.
