Description
This assignment doubles as an ELA and Science assignment! I enjoy using this assignment because it incorporates important world issues in the curriculum while helping your students gain skills such as speaking, researching and critical thinking. You could also use this assignment as an Earth day activity. In this assignment your students will learn about questioning techniques and how to interview. They will research on important environmental and conservation issues and then will either interview a classmate or create a video to present to class.
I suggest showing your students examples of interviews, youtube interviews such as the Ellen show and news reports where celebrities and politicians are interviewed. Discuss how guests are introduced and the different question techniques used. From there, your students can choose their topic and begin researching. They can plan their questions with a partner or work on a video with a group.
I’ve included the rubrics to use to mark this assignment and given a color and black and white option.
