Using word processing software such as MS Word or Google Docs, complete the story about Goldilocks by filling in the blank parts of the story. Either traditional story words can be added or silly words to make the story more creative. Then format the document using the correct commands by following the directions listed at the top of the handout. Point total formatting steps are added, but can easily be changed to fit your needs. A rubric can easily be applied instead for credit on the assignment.

Included with this download are two demonstration docs for this activity complete with screen shots for both Google Docs and MS Word. This comes in handy for teaching formatting commands associated with word processing as well as helping absent students to get caught up.

This is a fun activity for students because it helps with keyboarding and word processing formatting skills. Additionally, it gives students practice with Language Arts specifically storytelling and practice with subject verb agreement when writing. Finally it is a great way to use Computer Science with Language Arts and Reading for a great cross curriculum experience. Enjoy!
